Want To Be A Hot New Miami Interior Designer?
Right after the desire to work in the interior design business you need training. You can’t even make it into a apprentice program without some formal training and there are options that lessen the time and expanse but it gives you entry at slightly lesser levels. The Council for Interior Design Accreditation accredits interior design programs that lead to a bachelor’s or master’s degree. In 2008, there were over 150 accredited programs in interior design here in the United States. Many of them are part of a school or college’s departments of art, architecture, and sometimes home economics.
After you complete formal training of from 2 to 4 years, a beginning Miami Interior Designer can enter a 3 to 5 year apprenticeship program to gain hands on experience before testing for their certification or licensing at the city or state level to allow them to work on their own. Most all apprentices work in design or architecture firms under the supervision of an experienced interior designer.
Some apprentices may choose to gain experience working as an in-store designer in furniture stores and home centers. The National Council for Interior Design Qualification offers the Interior Design Experience Program, which helps entry-level interior designers gain valuable work experience by supervising their work and offering mentoring services to budding interior designers. This is a tough industry to establish yourself in, but once done it is a great career choice.
